Junior Curators continues at the Horry County Museum on Saturday, April 13th from 9 AM-10 AM. This free, family friendly, program is open to children ages 5 and older and will teach children the history and natural history of Horry County through hands on activities. In this session, children will learn about local wildlife and make a notebook of animal tracks that they can take home. Parents must remain with children. Active Adult Series: Lost Sites in Horry County

The monthly Active Adult Series at the Horry County Museum will continue on April 16th at 1:00 PM. From iconic landmarks to the lesser known places, join us as we talk about buildings and sites that were once important to the citizens of Horry County. The Active Adult Series is held the third Tuesday of each month and is perfect for new residents to the area, or lifetime locals who want to learn more about the place that they call home.
The program will be held at the Horry County Museum, located at 805 Main Street, Conway SC. This series is free and open to the public, seating will be available. It’s Grits

The 2019 Horry County Museum Documentary Film Series continues with It’s Grits. What began as a short, 10 minute film about grits turned into a 45 minute documentary that launched the filmmaking career of South Carolinian Stan Woodward. Since its release in 1980, It’s Grits has won multiple awards at film festivals, and appeared nationally on PBS. Featuring interviews beginning with the simple question “Do you eat grits?” this film celebrates one of the South’s favorite foods.

The film is free to the public and will be shown at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, April 17th, at the Horry County Museum, located at 805 Main Street in Conway.

How Does the Garden Grow? Organic Gardening at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm

Experience life on the “one horse farm” in Horry County from 1900-1955 at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm. Join us on April 24th from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM for a program on gardening where visitors can learn about growing a garden using heirloom varieties of vegetables and only organic fertilizers. At this program, visitors will learn about weeding and looking for insect damage.

The History of Aynor, SC

The 2019 Horry County Museum Documentary Film Series continues with a locally produced film by Nelson and Sam Thomas about the history of Aynor, South Carolina. Told through interviews and photographs, this 70 minute film tells the story of the town’s incorporation and history.
The film is free to the public and will be shown at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, April 24th, at the Horry County Museum, located at 805 Main Street in Conway.

Farm Animal Day at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm

L.W. Paul Living History Farm 2279 Harris Short Cut Rd, Conway, SC, United States

Experience life on the “one horse farm” in Horry County from 1900-1955 at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm. Join us on April 27th from 9:00 AM until 11:30 AM to learn about the different animals on the farm and their various roles.
The public is invited to help feed the animals from 9:00-9:30. Visitors can select an ear of corn, shell it, and use it to feed the chickens. This month farm staff will demonstrate trimming a mule’s mane and tail to help the animal stay clean and cool when the weather starts getting hot.
The L. W. Paul Living History Farm is open Tuesday-Saturday 9 AM-4 PM and teaches the history of the Horry County farm family. The farm is free and open to the public and is located at the corner of Hwy 701 North and Harris Short Cut Road in Conway, SC. For more information, call the L. W.
