The 2025 Horry County Museum Documentary Film Series continues with Jail, No Bail, part of the Carolina Stories Series produced by SCETV. In January of 1961, black students from Friendship Junior College in Rock Hill, SC walked into McCrory’s, sat at the lunch counter, and ordered hamburgers and soft drinks. They were denied service and asked to leave. After refusing to leave, the students were arrested for trespassing and processed. This 30 minute program pays tribute to the ‘Friendship Nine’ sit-in protest that inspired the Jail, No Bail Movement, a strategy which turned the tables on the establishment and reinvigorated the National Civil Rights Movement.
The film is free to the public and will be shown at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, April 2nd, at the Horry County Museum, located at 805 Main Street in Conway.

Join us Saturday, April 5th, for a free 30 minute activity at the Farm! Parents can sign children up for a half hour session between 9 AM-11 AM. Group sizes will be limited. In this session, children will learn about the importance of the barn owl to the farm family. We’ll also dissect real barn owl pellets to learn what these local birds of prey like to eat!

The 2025 Horry County Museum Documentary Film Series continues with They Were Here: Ice Age Humans in South Carolina. Part of the Carolina Stories Series by SCETV, this 30 minute film tells the story of a time when our climate was cooler and the plants and animals were much different than today. A time when great ice sheets covered the northern areas of what later became the United States. A time when early humans were coming to chert quarries in what is now Allendale County, South Carolina. This documentary covers the careful study and analysis of artifacts leading to evidence of a time when people inhabited South Carolina 15,000-20,000 years ago.

Visitors of all ages are invited to join us Saturday, April 12th from 9 AM-12 PM at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm for our annual Spring Planting Day. Stop by to learn about the different types of plants that would have been important to the farm family and how they would have prepared their spring and summer garden. We’ll have a variety of demonstrations throughout the Farm including cooking on the wood burning stove, planting, and more!
The L.W. Paul Living History Farm is open Tuesday-Saturday 9 AM-4 PM and teaches the history of the Horry County farm family from 1900-1955. The 2025 Horry County Museum Documentary Film Series continues with General William Westmoreland: The Man Behind the Four Stars. Part of the Carolina Stories Series by SCETV, this 30 minute film is the story of General Westmoreland, an Eagle Scout from Spartanburg County, who earned medals for bravery in World War II and became a Four-Star General, and the Military Commander of Allied Forces in Vietnam from 1964-1968. Historians, family and friends remember the uncompromising values of the man behind the four stars.
The film is free to the public and will be shown at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, April 23rd, at the Horry County Museum, located at 805 Main Street in Conway.

The Horry County Museum presents a program all about shark’s teeth by Charles Shelton on Saturday, April 26th, at 1:00 PM.
“Shark Tooth Charles” has been hunting for shark’s teeth for close to 40 years. It's his passion and he loves to give his time to educate, inspire, and enlighten others about the world of shark teeth hunting. In this program you'll learn about shark teeth, shark jaws, and most importantly how to hunt for shark’s teeth. You'll also learn about what can be found locally on our beaches. We hope that you walk away ready to hunt some teeth!
