The public is invited to the L.W. Paul Living History Farm at 1pm on May 14th to experience the sound of American shape-note singing. This traditional form of music has been sung in churches and “singing schools” since the early 1800s and has strong roots in the American South. Join staff member Abigail Phelps in learning the basics of shape-note music and bringing the harmonies to life through song.
The program will be held at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm, located at 2279 Harris Short Cut Road, Conway SC. This event is free, however a reservation is required. To sign up or for more information, call 843-365-3596 or email hcgmuseum@horrycounty.org. To view a full list of programs, visit our website at www.horrycountymuseum.org.
