The 2024 Horry County Museum Documentary Film Series continues with South Carolina Ghosts & Legends Vol. II. This 30 minute film takes a spine-tingling look at the Palmetto State’s ghosts, legends, and other chilling mysteries. From the scenic Upstate to the moss-canopied streets of the Coast, ETV goes on hair-raising jaunts through cemeteries, a college bell tower, a haunted railroad, and other fascinating sites, uncovering the stories that have captivated listeners for decades.

Annual Corn Event at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm

We’re talking corn at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm! Visitors of all ages are invited to join us Saturday, October 26th from 9 AM until 12 PM to learn all about how corn was grown and used in our farm communities. Visitors can try their hand at shelling corn and learn about the different ways that corn would be cooked in the farmhouse. Kids are also invited to join in on historic corn themed activities!
The L.W. Paul Living History Farm is open Tuesday-Saturday 9 AM-4 PM and teaches the history of the Horry County farm family from 1900-1955. South Carolina Ghosts & Legends Vol. III

The 2024 Horry County Museum Documentary Film Series continues with South Carolina Ghosts & Legends Vol. III. This 30 minute film explores two famous ghosts with roots on Pawley’s Island, “The Gray Man” and “Alice of the Hermitage.” The program also investigates “Bubba the Ghost” at the South Carolina State Museum and the ghosts of the University of South Carolina’s Longstreet Theatre. The Carolina Stories crew travels to Charleston to unearth tales of buried treasure and other legendary pirate stories.

Quilts of Valor at the Horry County Museum

The public is invited to view a special Quilts of Valor presentation at the Horry County Museum. Quilts made especially for local veterans will be presented by the Conway Quilt Guild Quilts of Valor Group on Saturday, November 2nd at 11 AM. The quilts to be awarded will be on display beginning October 23rd at the Horry County Museum.
The mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation (QOVF) is to cover all service members and veterans, touched by war, with a comforting and healing quilt. Since 2003, the foundation, now a national organization, has awarded nearly 400,000 quilts to veterans throughout the country. The Conway Quilt Guild has been recognized as one of the newest QOV groups, seeking to expand recognition to veterans in the northern and western parts of Horry County. Finding Clovis

The 2024 Horry County Museum Documentary Film Series continues with Finding Clovis. This 30 minute film takes viewers on an archeological adventure at the Topper dig site in Allendale County, South Carolina. Famous for Clovis and pre-Clovis artifacts, there is evidence that may support the theory that a comet suddenly wiped out the Clovis culture 13,000 years ago. World renowned scientists offer their opinions about these significant first Americans, where they came from, how they lived, and what may have been their fate.

Chasing the Swamp Fox

This film, part of the Carolina Stories Series by SCETV, details Francis Marion’s partisan campaigns during the American Revolution in South Carolina and paints a mosaic of what life was like in those years and how Marion’s participation led to the birth of modern day guerilla warfare as well as the liberation of our country.

Syrup Day at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm

See history come to life at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm! A large part of farm life in Horry County involved old-fashioned syrup making. Each fall, sugar cane was gathered from the field and taken to a local cane mill where the juice was squeezed from the stalk. Cooking down the raw juice into sweet cane syrup became a celebration and gathering for the community and is a tradition that is carried on each year at the L.W. Paul Living History Farm. Join us Saturday, November 16th from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm as staff and volunteers demonstrate the process of making cane syrup and a variety of other traditional activities including children’s games, cooking on a wood burning stove, and more!
